ChoiceNet Connections was the first and only company to provide internet access to the people in the Oroville area in Fall, 1995. Soon after establishing access in the Oroville area, ChoiceNet Connections
was able to offer toll-free internet access to the people in Gridley.
Eula J. Moffett and Shirley A. Bugado, owners of ChoiceNet Connections and often called the Internet ladies, take pride in the wonderful and friendly service they continually provide to
their customers. “I remember when gas stations were
called `service´ stations. Service station attendants pumped the gas, washed the windshields, checked tire pressure, and even sometimes vacuumed the inside of cars (at least in Hawaii, they did), says Shirley. We want to be thought of as the `service station´ of internet providers.
Below is an email that was sent to all ChoiceNet Connections customers:
We began our 6th year in business on September 21, 2000!
We thank every one of our valued customers, for the last five years. The past 5 years have been a wonderful growing experience for us in keeping up with current technology. When we started, the fastest connections were with 28.8 Kbps modems. Currently, we provide DSL connections with speeds up to 1.1Mbps. Changes in technology are occuring at a fast pace, and we hope to keep up with those changes in the years ahead. We want to be able to continue to provide you with the BEST service to the internet.
Our educational background is in a totally different field. We've had a great deal of help from many people. Some of the people we personally want to thank are the wonderful folks at QuikNet,
especially Team QuikNet for giving us our start and believing in us, Julia Bugado and Gloria Louis for "jumpstarting" us, Michael Pritchett for his techincal help and software programming of our automated
billing system, Richard Cooper for his continued technical help and
support, Rob Englund for his help with phone line installations at our Oroville facility, Barbara VanZandt for providing telephone relief, Robert and Ginger Mortenson of Microsystems Computing Consultants, Ron Severson of RFS Consulting Company, the past and current Board members of the Oroville Internet Users Group, and finally our family members who supported us financially and emotionally in our early days.
